Cell-cell death communication by signals passing through non-aqueous environments: A reply

چکیده
The effects of the emission low intensity light from cells and organelles, known as biophotons, or ultraweak photon emission, are not well understood subject to debate. Potapovich & Kostyuk recently proposed that induction oxidative stress generates non-chemical death signals which can induce cell in neighbouring, chemically isolated (termed detector cells). Given significance these results, here we attempt replicate their findings. We found treatment “inductor cells” with duroquinone dissolved ethanol does indeed significant neighbouring “detector” relative distant control (64.53% ± 14.42 vs 99.72% 6.09 viability), closely reproducing original results. However, this was no longer true if drug a less volatile solvent, suggesting findings may have been result solvent-based transmission opposed light-based signalling.

Heavy Metal Induced Cell Necrosis: Involves Apoptosis Death Signals Initiated by Mitochondrial Injury
Introduction: Severe industrial diseases result from the hepatic accumulation of mercury, cadmium or chromium in humans and on the other hand cadmium and dichromate and mercuric salts may induce lung or kidney cancer. Acute or chronic CdCl2, HgCl2 or dichromate administration induces hepatic and nephrotoxicity in rodents. Oxidative stress is often cited as a possible cause of metal induced cell...
متن کاملMorphological Features of Cell Death Through Microscopic View
Cells are active components in their environment and constantly adjusting their performance to improve extracellular milieu changing. This approach is reflected their tends of maintaining intracellular homeostasis. When the cells encounter stress or pathologic stimuli, they can undergo a new manner (adaptation) and new steady state for achieving viability and function. If the external stress is...
متن کاملCell death induction by Streptococcus pyogenes in four types of malignant cell lines
Abstract Background: The interest in using bacteria as anti- cancer therapeutic agents dates back to the end of the19th century. Some bacteria like Salmonella and Listeria replicate effectively inside malignant cell lines and suppress their growth. The bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes has become medically famous as a flesh-eating pathogen since mid-1980s. It is the causative agent of a life...
متن کاملCD47 signals T cell death.
Activation-induced death of T cells regulates immune responses and is considered to involve apoptosis induced by ligation of Fas and TNF receptors. The role of other receptors in signaling T cell death is less clear. In this study we demonstrate that activation of specific epitopes on the Ig variable domain of CD47 rapidly induces apoptosis of T cells. A new mAb, Ad22, to this site induces apop...
متن کاملNon-Canonical Cell Death Induced by p53
Programmed cell death is a vital biological process for multicellular organisms to maintain cellular homeostasis, which is regulated in a complex manner. Over the past several years, apart from apoptosis, which is the principal mechanism of caspase-dependent cell death, research on non-apoptotic forms of programmed cell death has gained momentum. p53 is a well characterized tumor suppressor tha...
